Our Chapter

Alpha Alpha Eta Sigma was chartered on February 20, 1994, in the City of Virginia Beach.  The charter members were Darrell Ward, Maurice Winfield, Linderal Arrington, Clarence Ross, Gary Duncan, James Skinner and John Harris.  Born from the Norfolk chapter Beta Sigma, in the summer of 1993 Brother Ward and Brother Skinner decided to form a chapter in Virginia Beach that would serve the community as a whole.  The two solicited the help of the VA State Director the Honorable Millard “The Dean” Watkins, Sr. to help guide the newly formed chapter.

Over the past 25 years the chapter has accomplished the following achievements:

  • The chapter was chartered with the intention of not exceeding 25 members and actively helping to establish the “intellectual capital” to help shape the fraternity.

  • The chapter celebrated 20 years of service during the centennial celebration of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated.

  • Over the decades the chapter has had several individual members receive awards at the Eastern Regional and VA State Conferences.

  • The best and talented small chapter recognized by the City of Virginia Beach in 1995.

  • VA Chapter of the Year in 1995 and 1999.

  • The chapter has hosted two VA State Conferences.

  • The chapter was the Alumni Advisor to the Omicron Iota Chapter located at Old Dominion University.
